Gohpur salutes his martyr son

The land of martyrs like Muknda Kakoti, Kanaklata, yet another son gives his life for the nation in Jammu. Lakhiram Basumarty, in 36 year of age gave his life while serving for the nation in Jammu on 25th of August. Assam Regiment Lance Naik Rank holder Lakhiram Basumatary had been deputed in the violence prominent area in Jammu and Kashmir to tackle the incessant breach of border attempt by the Pakistani militants. On 25th August morning, he was attacked by a Pakistani militant from his backside. He was died on the spot.

His body was taken to the Guwahati on 28th August in a coffin by his colleagues. His regiment colleagues showing their respect to the great soldier in full army procedure. After having done the official procedures, his dead body has been carried to the home town Gohpur for the last rituals by his colleague. While his dead body reached his native home, the environment becomes tragic.

In his home on 29th August, the funeral ceremony has been taken place. Thousands of people goatherd in his village to see a glimpse of this brave warrior. Army authority with full army way showing their respect to the great hero of nation. When his two sons and his wife Darthi Basumatary offering their tribute for the last time, whole environment is very much tragic.
