Drivers of all vehicles gathered at JD Road near Assam oil, Kokrajhar to protest against physical assaults on a bus driver by a traffic police officer in Kokrajhar town on Wednesday which disrupted traffic control till afternoon. The assaulted driver was rushed to RNB civil hospital in Kokrajhar.
A mini bus driver identified Pulen Roy was hospitalised today morning due to physically assaults at Kokrajhar town by a traffic police officer on Tuesday. Roy, who hailed from Charaikola area was unnecessarily assaulted by a traffic police officer Utpal Brahma yesterday while parking his mini bus nearby road at RNB Road in Kokrajhar town.
Drivers from Kokrajhar town staged protest today near Assam oil along JD Road in Kokrajhar which disrupted road traffic control in Kokrajhar.
Agitated drivers staged dharna on the road demanding early arrest and punishment to the culprit who beatten up to injur the driver. Drivers shouted slogans and alleged that traffic police has been taking bribe every day in the name of traffic control. Drivers are always have to pay money to the police on the roads,agitated drivers said.
DC and SP of Kokrajhar rushed the agitated spot near Assam oil and hold meeting with driver association where district administration assure to check anomalies done by traffic officer on Tuesday. Later,agitated driver lifted the protest after 12.30 pm after meeting with district administration.
Pulen Roy, victim driver said that a traffic police officer yesterday beaten up him without any words during parking on the road. He was admitted to the hosital today morning as he has face of serious injuries on his ear and back. He alleged that police who are deployed along the traffic control take money every day in the name of traffic control in Kokrajhar town.
‘Police administration has initiated stern measure to check anomalies penetrated by a deployed traffic police officer’,said a senior police officer.
