3 ACS officers arrested in job scam

Amid the probe in the job for cash scam in the Assam Public Service Commission, police have arrested three newly appointed ACS officers on Wednesday alleging their involvement.

Identified as Bhaskarjyoti Dev  Sharma, the circle officer of Helem in Biswanath Chariali was picked up by police early in the morning.

Police have arrested Amit Sarma, the circle officer of Sipahjar from his residence in the morning and simultaneously another circle officer from Nalbari Bhaskar Dutta was arrested in the same allegation of procuring jobs for money.

Police, probing the scam confirmed the allegations against the trio acting on the forensic report of their answer scripts. Then they got administrative nod for action against them.

A team of senior police officers has been interrogating the three controversial officers who would be produced before a special court.

GUWAHATI: There seems to be no respite for Nishamoni Deka as the Gauhati High Court on Monday refused to grant anticipatory bail for the ACS officer who is on the run. Hearing the anticipatory bail plea, the high court straightly rejected it and asked the special operation unit probing the APSC scam to submit the case diary by December 15. Earlier, Deka moved a plea before the Special court to grant her anticipatory bail citing her two month old baby. NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court is hearing a petition alleging a huge scam in the selection of candidates for ACS, APS and allied service candidate by the Assam Public Service Commission in 2013. But, Akhil Gogoi, the petitioner is absent from the proceedings since he has been languishing in the Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Srcurity Act. Noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan us appearing on behalf of the petitioner who moved the plea before the country's top court many days ago. NAMRUP: A group of BJP leaders and workers openly expressed displeasure with AGP MLA Naren Sonowal, who allegedly has not been listening to them. At a booth level meeting in Namrup, the party's local leaders alleged that Sonowal has not been doing enough for them during the last one and a half years.
