Investiture ceremony held at Sainik School
Sainik School Goalpara (SSG), one of the pioneering institutes in the North Eastern region, held its Investiture Ceremony in the school premises on 1 May 2017 with military precision to induct new school appointments for the Academic Session 2017-18. Maj Gen Ananta Bhuyan, Sena Medal and General Officer Commanding, 2 Mountain Division graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest who reviewed an impressive parade and bestowed appointments on 32 budding cadets of the school that included the School Captain, School Adjutant, Mess Captain, School Vice-Captains, House Captains & House Vice-Captains, Senior Prefects & Juniors Prefects. Capt (IN) Edwin Jothirajan, Principal of the school felicitated the Chief Guest.
The Appointments participated in an Oath Taking Ceremony donning colourful epaulettes, with promises to shoulder their responsibilities with dignity and honesty. Mr A K Kushwaha, the Senior Master administered the oath for school code of conduct to all the cadets of the school. The parents of the Appointments were also present on the occasion.
On the parade, Maj Gen Ananta Bhuyan, who is an alumnus of SSG cherished the memories of his days as a cadet at SSG from 11 Jul 1972 to 02 Feb 1980. He acknowledged gratitude to his alma mater, which he believed, played the role of a catalyst and helped him scale greater heights in life. He said that SSG is unique as it provides its cadets with a wonderful platform to excel in life. The General congratulated the new appointments and urged them to take up their responsibilities with grit and sincerity. He advised the cadets of his alma mater to remain focused on the aims and objectives of the school and motivated them to serve the nation by joining Defence Services.
During his visit to the school, the General inspected the school campus and interacted with the staff and the cadet appointments over tea. He planted a sapling in the campus and also witnessed a cultural programme in the school auditorium, which was presented by the cadets of school music and dance clubs. A customary regimental lunch was organized in his honour in the “Cadets’ Mess”.
