Baby born in tea bushes

A tea worker of Borengajuli tea estate under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district gave birth to an infant in tea bushes while plucking tea leaves. The worker has been admitted in the civil hospital Tangla while her infant baby was found dead. The workers have created a havoc in this regard. The female tea workers usually loaded with heavy burden and pressure & ignorance  from the management have been left for survival.

Snakebite blots on healthcare in Udalguri district

The poor medical facilities in tea estates of Assam have come into focus once again after a tea worker died due to lack of treatment after being bitten by a snake on Thursday. Twenty Eight year old BiptiKujur, a resident of Nonaipara tea garden in Udalguri district, was bitten by a venomous snake King Cobra on Thursday when she was plucking tea leaves. She was immediately rushed to garden hospital, Nonaipara T.E. The hospital did not have the facilities to administer snake anti venom and referred Tangla PHC. Woman attacked with blade

A woman was attacked by sharp blade by a group of unidentified miscreants at midnight of 13 June, the woman has been identified as Rashmita Tanti (50) wife of Kandhara Tanti an inhabitant of Budlapara Chowk under Dimakuchi PS of Udalguri district. It is informed that a group of men came in and attacked while she was asleep. The victim has been severely injured and has been rushed to Tangla PHC for treatment by local people and police. Python recovered

A large python approximately 5ft weighing 5 kg was recovered at 2 No. Borengajuli (Orangbasti) village of Rajagarh near the Indo-Bhutan border on Monday morning. The snake was recovered at the backyard of Usha Deka. The snake was handed over to 37th Bn SSB Nalapara BOP officials by the villagers at a Civic Action Program.

Unabated Man-elephant conflict in Udalguri

Attacks by wild elephants continue in villages along the India-Bhutan border in Assam's Udalguri district with three people being trampled to death within a week this month and several houses being damaged. "Almost every day, elephant herds are entering villages and damaging houses and crops. People are scared and worried. A day long NDA coaching program was organized by Indian Army (Red Horn Division) of Borengajuli Army camp in collaboration with Bhergaon Block Development Committee at Bhergaon Sub-Divisional (Civil) Office on Tuesday.
