Spring, the season of blooming flowers, gurgling steams, chirping is back with unbound festivity that gives the north eastern state a different look.
Festivity grips the people who are well prepared to welcome the traditional new Assamese year from Friday. Women folks are busy in weaving Bihuwan, a traditional tapestry to be served to the near and dear ones. Of them are preparing traditional cakes and pastries to be served on the occasion.
The air in Assam is now thick with the sounds of drums and symbols along with other bamboo made traditional instruments as the troupes are preparing for the Bihu Huchories in the open space and stages.
The urban lots are busy with last minute shopping to celebrate the annual festival of joy and merriment. Huchori competition, fashion shows, quiz competition, exhibition of traditional Assamese dresses are also lined up on the occasion.
