Bishnulal Upadhay remembered
"Politicians of country have resorted to self-centred politics there by amassing unaccounted wealth. The political corruption has deteiorated the sceneraio of politics . Though there exist polticians who are honest and are in the sphere for the cause of serving the mankind .One of such person was veteran politician and freedom fighter Bishnulal Upadhay. " This was the observation made by Dr. Dilip Baruah of Gauhati University here at Golmagaon High School of Udalguri on Sunday.
The Axom Nepali Sahitya Sabha(ANSS) Udalguri district committee organized a day long memorial lecture marking the birth centenary programme of veteran politician,freedom fighter,literateur,philantrophist Bishnulal Upadhay .A memorial lecture on the theme of 'Politics and Value' was also held .
The memorial lecture which was iniated by speech of Debraj Sapkota and anchored by Ram Upadhay of ANSS was also attended by Puspadhar Sarma Principal of Udalguri HS school. In his speech Sarma recalled the contributions of late Bishnulal Upadhay in freedom movement. Others who spoke on the ocassion include Dr. Khagen Sarmah from Gauhati University. The Nepali translated version of state anthem O' Mur Apunar Desh was also sung on the ocassion.
The programme was also attended by Loknath Upadhay son of Bishnulal Upadhay and Chairman of Gorkha Development Council , Joinarayan Luital and members of ANSS Udalguri district committee.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
