Eviction drive at Salakati

 At-least 20 shops and houses were dismantled during the eviction drive carried out by NTPC authority along the no. 4 & 5 gate of the NTPC at Salakati in Kokrajhar district on Friday.

 Evicted peoples alleged that they have not received any prior notice ahead eviction drive. They have face loss of properties due to the eviction.

 The NTPC authority along with magistrate evicted the all kinds of shops and houses that are running inside the NTPC complex at Salakati of Kokrajhar district. The eviction dismantled around twenty shop and houses along the no. 4 & 5 gates inside complexes, which included tea stall, small grocery, and houses.

 The NTPC authority claimed that stall and houses were illegally residing inside NTPC since long years. They were served notice about eviction, but didn’t respond on it, a NTPC official told.

Evicted family members alleged that they were evicted forcefully without any prior notice about eviction drive carried out today by NTPC authority.

Chitra Rai, an evicted woman along the NTPC told that she and her family is serving tea stall at no.4 gate since 30-40 years since BTPS tenure. The NTPC authority today carried out eviction without any prior notice. She even begged four-five days to shift her tea stall, but they didn’t respond.

She has to face losses of over lakh of properties due to the eviction. She has expresses her shock on the eviction that she have to face homeless in her life.

A villagers of Salakati area said that the NTPC authority should have served prior notice before eviction drive carrying along the complex.

KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the Bengtol missionary hospital where three persons were declared brought dead.
