Additional Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu visited Batadrava than on Monday. Bhanu inspected the sensitive lands of Santijan area of Batadrava which were recently made encroachment free by Nagaon district administration through a massive eviction drive. A rare species of tortoise has been saved after being found trying to cross over the Dhing-Nagaon connecting road adjacent to Batadrava police station on Thursday night.The approximate weight of the tortoise is 6 kg.It was collected by a man namly Rajib baruah on the road,luckyly there was no vehicle passing at that time. Rajib Baruah is officer in charge of Batadrava police station. The rescued tortoise later was released in fresh water of Akakhi ganga,the waterbody located inside the Batadrava than.
Four young greater adjutant storks, a highly endangered stork species,were found at Chakalaghat in the Nagaon district on Wednesday. Some locals spotted the young adjutant storks close land adjacent to Barbhety Simolutol PWD road and rescued them with providing initial care. The storks were later handed over to Forest officials of Nagaon. It may be mentioned here that Near to chalaghat their was a tall tree where Some greater adjutant storks had nested in. MLA of Batadrava, Angoorlata deka on Tuesday laid foundation stone of two important link roads from Itakhuli to Kapahera via khandajan and Kapahera Sunaruguri to Bakarichuk. A nine  year old boy met watery grave at a pond at a remote hamlet in Nagaon district casting a pall of gloom in the entire area on Saturday. Identified as Rana Bordoloi is alleged to have killed his wife  Sabitri by setting her on fire at their home in Palengtoli,Barkola  in the afternoon. One person died and four others sustained grave injury after the vehicle in which they were travelling turned turtle on the road after it rammed into the divider in Nagaon on Tuesday. The bizarre road mishap took place at Nonoi Arjuntol on thr National Highway No 37 in the morning. The injured have been battling for life at the civil hospital. Identified as Abdul Kadir, he died on the spot. Eye witnesses, mostly, have blamed rash driving for thr tragic road mishap.
The Nagaon police have seized a huge cache of explosive materials during a raid in Dhing area on Wednesday.
