The 16th BN SSB Ranighuli celebrated the festival of light with Bhutanese authorities by organizing Diwali gifts programme held at Gelephu ( Bhutan) on Saturday in Chirang.
During the programme Lt. Col Tangbi(Liaison officer), SDO Gelephu Sonam Tshering , Major Karma Samten and Captain Jambey Tobden ,OC Gelephu gate were presented Diwali sweets and gifts . Bhutanese authorities were led by Sonam Tshering, SDO Civil Gelephu in favour of DC Sarphang.
Best wishes for Diwali were exchanged among the officers of both side of the international border with a hope of more beautiful and friendly relationship withbothh countries in coming future.
The programmes was held with the association of 31st Bn SSB, 15th BN SSB and 16th BN SSB, three units under sector headquarter SSB Bongaigaon and represented by concerned representatives Mohilari, AC SHQ SSB Bongaigaon, Chetia AC, 31 Bn SSB , Pramod , AC/Tele 15 Bn SSB , Mobi Lourembam , AC 16th Bn and under the overall leadership of Sh. A.K.C Singh, Commandant 16th BN SSB Ranighuli.
As the same presentation was done in two previous years Amit Kumar , DIG, SSB Bongaigaon has made it possible this year as to shine like the Diya for both India and Bhutan as best friendly countries. Best wishes also conveyed to all Bhutanese Officers and officials from DG Fhq SSB New Delhi , IG Ftr Hqr SSB Guwahati. On the occasion A.K.C Singh, Commandant 16th Bn SSB expressed and hope for best cooperation among the forces and civil authorities for the better work in the field of operations against insurgents, economic development and overall development of poor and needy people residing along Border area.
More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms.
In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority.
Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB.
A few days ago the government signed a tripritite peace treaty with all the factions of the NDFB. In the treaty the Centre and state government, reportedly, promised to upgrade the BTAD as BTR.
