Dukheswar Koch remembered

Rabha Sihitya Sabha and Rabha community recalled contributions of Dukjeswar Koch, founder president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha towards literary field, on his 36th death anniversary at Magurmari High School in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. As part of progarmme scheduled,literary organizer and participants paid floral tribute to late Dukheswar Koch in the early morning, was organized by Reception Committee of Dukheswar Koch Death anniversary observation.

Mentioned be made that Dukheswar Koch was born in 1902 at Magurmari and died in 1980.He was a noted writer and founder president of Rabha Sahitya Sabha.

A memorial lecture on Dukheswar Koch was organized to mark the anniversary with Baren Chapar in the chair.

Amarsingh Koch, president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha, Manabendra Rabha,president All Rabha Jatiya Parishad, Dhwajendra Nath Brahma, president of Kokrajhar district unit Bodo sahitya sabha, Indra Mahan Koch,noted social worker were prominent attendees on the occasion.

Amarsingh Koch, president of Rabha Sahitya Sabha said that Rabha community in the state is still today deprived in all fronts of aspects and developmental like education, social uplift.

‘Though Rabha community has own culture and language, but no medium of instruction, even though community organizations have been place demands for educational expectations in the state’, Koch said.

He has put demands of early creation of medium of instruction in the state to give proper development and integration as other communities are getting educational and social uplift. He disclosed that Rabha community organizations met Chief Minister and governmental officials to put pressure over granting medium of instruction in schools, but no any response was reached so far to the demands.

He has warned to take mass agitation if their demand and issues are meeting in earliest manner in days to coming.

A souvenir was also brought out on the occasion to mark the observation.

NSLA cadre held

Security forces apprehended a cadre of National Santhali Liberation Army(NSLA) from Silpur area under Gossaigaon PS in Kokrajhar district today. Getting an information about presence of militant cadres,a joint team of police and army launched a search operation and able to arrest a NSLA cadre.He was identified as Abraham Murmu,was involved with numerous cases of extortion,money collection,providing administrative support to the militant organistaion and other various subversive activities. AKRSU slams govt for delays of ST issue

Zaraguri beat Bongaigaon

Zaraguri GBF, Gossaigaon beat Bongaigaon Star XI 9-8 via tie breaker shot in the Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup football championship on Thuesday  evening at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar. Both the team played goalless in the match,later organisers decided for tie-breaker shot where Zaraguri beat Bongaigaon 9-8.

Barhoongkha beat Jharkhand

Barhoongkha AC, Kokrajhar defeated SE Railway, Jharkhand 3-0 in the Daoharu Mungkhlong football trophy being played at Dotma HS school ground in Kokrajhar district today.  Ajit Karjee of Barhoongkha netted his goal against Jharkhand in 27 minutes of first half and led the match 1-0. Cattle smugglers arrested

Six cattle smugglers were arrested by police at Uttarpara under Gossaigaon PS in Kokrajhar district early Monday morning along with six Buffaloes, which were carried by a auto van.

Bodoland Gold Cup kicks off

City Police, Guwahati beat Coochbehar Municipality Recreation Club, West Bengal 2-0 in the Daoharu Mungkhlong Football trophy being played at Dotma HS school ground in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. Anildom Das netted his first goal in 11 minutes against Coochbehar for City Police and led the 1-0 in first half. Global Hand Washing Day observed
