Fire in Pathsala market

A major fire engulfed a portion of 'Uttarpati' market, the main commercial hub at Pathsala on Thursday morning at around 2 am. The fire engulfed shops, godowns and houses. In the congested markets with garments, house hold, goods, pharmacy, shoe shop and other essential items. Over six fire tenders were brought from different places of Barpeta district- Sarthebari, Tihu, Bhagmara, Barpeta road and Pathsala too. Local claims that, may be fire cause due to Short circuit.

Adjacent roads of Pathsala (Lasit Nagar) was blocked by a group of women demanding immediate reapair of the roads on Thursday morning. The group of local women came out from their homes to protests against deplorable roads near Anandaram Baruah Academy Schools & Colleges in the heart of Pathsala town. According to them, The goverment failed to take development to the people.  The conditions of roads is very poor and people can't walk in the road in rainy season. Three students from Pathsala brought glory to the town bagging three ranks among the top 10 in the higher secondary examination 2016 results declared on Thursday. Ilakshi Najir of Krishna Kanta Junior College ranked 6th (Arts) with 474 out of 500 (94.8℅) marks. Ilakshi is the daughter of Dilip kumar Nazir and Mina Nazir from Howly. Two youth died on the spot in a fatal accident at Baghmara, Monday around 2.30 pm. The incident happened at Bajali when the duo's speeding motor cycle collided with a truck head on after hitting a cow near the Baghmara police station. The dead have been identified as Kumar Boro and Bhakta Boro both from Gargoan. The bodies meantime were shifted to the Barpeta Medical College for postmortem.
