Lakhipur win Sujit Narzary football championship
Lakhipur Sports Association, Silchar defeated Lakhimpur Sports Association 2-1 goal to lift 9th Sujjit Narzary memorial Inter District U-13 (Under-13) football championship in the final match on Saturday at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar district.
Arun Nayak of Lakhimpur netted his first goal against Lakhipur in 32 minutes of first half and led the match 1-0.For Lkahipur, Stefen Keser and Alfred Lalreed scored one each goal in 42 minutes and 53 minutes respectively in the second half which led the team to lift the championship trophy by winning 2-1 goals.
It was organized by Kokrajhar district sports association in memory of late Sujit Narzary,first martyr of Bodoland movement.
Hemendra Nath Brahma,president of Assam Football Association and Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member gave away championship trophy and cash 20,000 and Ankur Dutta,secretary of Assam Football Association handed over runners up trophy and cash 15,000.
BTC executive member Rajib Brahma,Ajay Basumatary,secretary KDSA,Bishnu Narzary,chairman KMB were prominent attendees on the prize distribution function.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. The award includes a citation, traditional Aronai, and a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh. The festival also featured a Hills trekking competition and traditional food showcase competition.
