NH blockade at Serfanguri

Hundreds of bandh supporters blockade 31C National Highway at Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district along with rest of the state, on the 12-hours nationwide strike called by trade unions in protest against the governments’ indifference to their demands for better wages and facilities and the anti-worker changes in labour laws on Friday.

Bandh supporters from different places of the district throng at NH to blockade the road, shouted slogans with banner, placards demanded early hike of wages, regularization of jobs, stop price hikes of essential commodities.

Road communication was disrupted since morning due to general strike call in the region.

District administration and police officials rushed the blockade spot with tried to disperse the agitators with appealed, but agitators did not give response to the appeals. They said that they blockade the NH to put pressure government for meeting their grievance and issues in the country. Government should initiate to make regularize jobs, stop price hikes,held healthy living among human society in earliest manner, agitators demanded.

“We blockade NH to put pressure govt for bringing solution of issue and grievances. Government has been deprived our demand and rights in the country”,said Chandrabati Basumatary,an agitators.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. A five-day mountaineering training program, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare department of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government, begins on Thursday at the Dangdupur Hills Site in Kokrajhar. On Friday, the government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) observed the third BTR Peace Accord Day as "Day of Peace" on Friday.  A massive bike peace rally was held in Kokrajhar, the "City of Peace." Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
