A peace rally was carried out at Balajan Tinali market on Tuesday in protest against recent indiscriminate firing along the Tinali bazaar which had claimed 14 lives and 18 others received serious injuries in Kokrajhar district.
Hundreds of ralliest from different parts of Kokrajhar and Chirang district participated with banner, placards, which was organized by Lutheran world Services India Trust (LWSIT), Assam unit seeking peace and harmony among all sections of community in the region.
The rally was started from Bessie Memorial school complex via JD Road, Bazar road and concluded at the same point.The rally condemned the recent firing attack and urged the government to make stern measures against inhuman activities penetrated in the state. Swapan Banerjee, co-ordinator of LWSIT, Nityananda Borgoyary,organizer of the rally termed the attack was unfortunate and condemnable for state. We organized the rally to seek peace and harmony among all sections of community in the region. They urged the government to ensure peace and unity along with safe and security to safe life and properties in the state. The trust has been working for the welfare of the violence affected citizens.
