Child drown in Kokrajhar

A six year old girl child died after drowning in the flood water at New Banglajhora in Kokrajhar district today.

According to information, the child identify as Purnima Narzary, 6, of New Banglajhora relief camp slipped in the flood water and drowned.

Her body was later recovered.

The district administration has provided Rs 25,000 as part of the compensation.The rest amount of Rs 4 lakhs will be provided later, a senior official of district administration said.

District administration has been providing relief materials in smooth manner besides extending medical facilities for the flood affected peoples in the district, he added.

Northeast Butterfly meet concludes

ISPL 2022: Bodoland lifts trophy

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Sonam Basumatary of Bodoland Territorial Region scored the lone goal against Lai Autonomous in 51 minutes of the second half. This led his team to win the tournament 1-0. Sahitya Akademy for Indira Boro

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. She has authored many books in Bodo language and contributed a lot to the uplift and development of Bodo literature. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. Hagrama Mohilary, BPF chief, released on bail

BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020.
