KOKRAJHAR: The Kanthalguri village society organized a day-long celebration of Amtisuwa Pwrbw (Ambubashi Festival) at the village playground on Friday.
The event featured a friendly football match between village veterans and young players, with the veterans emerging victorious 4-1. This lighthearted competition kicked off the festivities and drew cheers from the crowd.
Other highlights included a tug-of-war competition and a musical chair competition for women.
The Kanthalguri village society has a tradition of celebrating Amtisuwa Pwrbw during the first week of the Assamese month of Ashar, fostering a spirit of joy and unity among villagers.
A vibrant dance performance captivated the audience, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Cash prizes were awarded to the winners of the competitions.
Esteemed guests included retired headmaster Karuna Kanta Basumatary, UPPL media secretary Hantigiri Narzary, village headman Kumananda Basumatary, and other dignitaries.
Motilal Mushahary, president of the Kanthalguri village society, presided over the program. He emphasized the society's role in creating a platform for celebrating the festival and highlighted their annual tradition of organizing the event during the first week of Ashar.
