Natasurya Phani Sarmah drama festival in Tezpur

Like every year, the preparation for the Natsurya Phani Sarmah Nat Samaroh is going on full swing in the Cultural City of Assam, Tezpur. This year the Nat Samaroh is going to be held from July 31 to August 2 2008 at the historic Ban Theater Hall in Tezpur. Three drama's going to be staged during the Nat Samaroh. The Nat Samaroh will be opened with a drama called "MALOTI MAM" to be staged under the direction of Dramatist Deepak Mahanta. On August 1 Ghanashyam Bora's drama "SAKUNIR PRATISHODH" will be staged under the Direction Ganesh Gogoi where Prtthviraj Rabha, son of famous Kalaguru Bishnu, is going to act in the role of the Mythological Character "KARNA". On the last day a drama of Nibaran Bhattachacharya is going to be staged directed by Suren Mahanta.

Natsurya Phani Sarmah Nat Samaroh has been held from every year since 1971 at the very cultural hub - Ban Theatre, Tezpur. The first Drama that was staged in the first ever Natsurya Phani Sarmah Nat Samaroh was Chandra Dhar Goswamis's "SIRAJ".

Three youth have been killed by suspected KLNLF militants in the wee hours of the November 3 morning in Nagaon district. The deceased were namely Jogesh Shah, Mahesh Shah, Pawan Sarmah. The former two belong to Bihari Community. According to the reports last came in, the incident took place due to monetary reason. According to the eye witnesses the militants took the three people in an open field in Sukanjuri and indiscriminately open fired on them.The three died on the spot.After doing the massacre, the militants went back to the nearby hill area.
