Panery MLA Kamali Basumatari felicitated

Journalism should be unbiased, bold and fearless. Media has a pivotal role to play for upliptment of a place. Thus spake Kamali Basumatari, women legislator of Panery LAC at a special felicitation programme by Tangla Press Club (TPC) on Friday.


Tangla Press Club had organized a special programme to felicitate the women legislator of Panery LAC for her stupendous victory in last assembly polls. The programme was attended by  journalists of Khoirabari, Bhergaon, Kalaigaon and Tangla region, besides AKRSU Udalguri district AGS Hemanta Borah also graced the event as guest of honour.


Speaking on the ocassion as chief guest the women legislator said "Politics is for the people.Poliitcs is for peace,prosperity and brotherhood amongh people. Politics cuts across religion, class, creed, community."


She further said" I don't believe in self-centred politics.I am elated that  Panery constituency which homes multi-ethnic,multi culture people,I have been voted to power for the fourth consecutive term.


Coming to the much hyped high-pitched slogans of change before elections she said" People  shouted high pitched slogans of change,but a change in government will not bring change for that people's attitude and work culture should also change.


She further referring the new government observed that "New wine in old bottle will not bring any good ,along with the new winw the bottle should also be replaced.


A memorandum for proposal of Tangla Press Club building was also handed over to the MLA by Dipak Deka and Bapan Sarma,to which the MLA assured of financial aid of Rs.10 lakhs. She urged the media persons never to step back to bring out the true picture even if she herself is the subject.


The programme was also addressed by Bapan Sarma,Ganesh Deka and Dwipen Deka. Earlier the programme started with a poem recitation by Arup Boro.

Sensation prevails in the area following the alleged molestation of a 11 year old girl by a businessman at Garuajhar under Panery PS. Danish Ali, a resident of 1 No. Garuajhar went to the girl's house to fetch betel-nut sapling. The girl was alone and taking advantage of the moment the youth allegedly sexually molested the minor,The minor was also threatened of dire consequences if she discloses the matter to anyone. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Moments after the matter was out in the public the accused surrendered at the Panery PS,informed OC Sohrab Ali. A juvenile accused of theft was beaten black and blue by irate public at the premises of SBI Tangla Branch on Tuesday afternoon. An employee of RGVN (NE) MicroFinance Ltd. Gokul Kr. Das went to SBI Tangla to deposit an amount of 2.89 lacs at about 3.15 pm. The juvenille by trick tried to snatch away the bag from the employee. The juvenile was manhandled and beaten up by irate public and handed over to police custody. The juvenile is a resident of  Pagla station village of Bongaigaon. An FIR in this regard has also been filed at Tangla police station.

A major fire ravaged four shops at Bhergaon charali on Saturday afternoon. While no one was injured, the damage to property was huge. The fire broke out at R.K Hardware store at around 8.20 p.m. It quickly spread to several shops on the same complex in just a few minutes engulfing as many as three other stores namely Reena Grocery Store, Nikamsa Internet Cafe,Ratneswar & Kaushik Cloth Store. The blaze destroyed assorted items like building materials,groceries,food stuffs,clothes and electrical gadgets. Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Tangla,Khoirabari and Duni battled hard to bring the fire under control.
After cracking the recent kidnapping incident of two youths by a joint operation of Udalguri police and Bongaigaon police which led to apprehension of Shahijudun Sheikh (31), son of  Phulu Sheikh, of Durgamari village of Bongaigaon. A team of Udalguri police nabbed one Monjit Mormo (39) on Saturday afternoon at about 12.30 pm from Kokrajhar district in connection with the case.
