Will JP Rajkhowa quit after the Supreme Court’s blistering verdict on the constitutional crisis in Arunachal Pradesh. Rajkhowa, who is on sick leave, is believed to have been waiting for the floor test slated for July 16. Congress party in the north eastern state has demanded his resignation saying that his involvement in the local politics has been exposed.
Noted journalist Sanjay Hazarika said that Rajkhowa has no option but to quit. In his Facebook, post the renowned journalist observed that following the Supreme courts blistering verdict on the powers of the governor in the Arunachal Pradesh case, there is a clear line that Raj Bhavans cannot cross. JP Rajkhowa rushed over that line in unseemly haste ... his report to the President on the breakdown of law and order in the state as well as his direct involvement in local politics was an awful one and now he has no choice but to quit.
On the current crisis Hazarika maintains that Tuki and Pul may say it's all about numbers in democracy but buying, selling, defecting and encouraging defection doesn't lead to a stable and effective government. It's always looking over its shoulder to see who's about to stab it in the back. This is the second stunning reverse for the Centre within a week with the stinging verdict on the Manipur encounters or murders of innocent people in fake encounters by security forces and police where it ruled that impunity was unacceptable and the army couldn't stay ad infinitum in such areas as this harmed civil authority, the constitution and the system of justice.
