ABSU to organize rally for solution in Tamulpur

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has decided to organize a rally for solutions of various issues, included creation of separate Bodoland state, resume of tripartite peace talk on the occasion of 28th Martyrs' Day of Bodoland Movement on June 12 next at Tamulpur ground in Baksa district.

Lawrence Islary, general secretary of the students union in a press statement said that the tripartite talk with ABSU and its allied organizations was hold over four times during the UPA government on the issues of Bodoland separate state demand, solution of NDFB-P issue, but no any final shape was reached on its reality till now.

'It is a grave concern that the BJP led NDA government has yet to resume the peace talk spirit with Bodo frontal organizations on Bodoland issue as well other issues. The students union and its allied organizations backed the BJP party during 2014 Lok Sabha elections through which party won seven seats in the state of Assam, with promising solutions of Bodoland statehood issue and social uplift in the state', Islary said.

'We urged NDA government at the centre to initiate early step to solve the long pending demand of Bodoland separate state through resume tripartite peace talk as soon as possible', he said. He has also warned to take vigorous mass agitation into demand of statehood if early measures are not seen.

The martyr’s day observation has been organized since 1987 every year on June 12 to mark the death anniversary of martyr Sujit Narzary, who lost his life on that day, attacked on ABSU movement activists by anti-Bodoland movement. Over 10,000 gathering from all over the state would be held where former Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwussmuthiary, Promod Boro, president of ABSU, Dhiren Boro, president NDFB (P) are participating. He has appealed to all sections of communities to participate in the scheduled programme.
