Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma remembered

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) recalled contributions of Bodofa (Father of Bodos) Upendra Nath Brahma, a great leader of Bodo as well other downtrodden communities of the state of Assam and former president of the students’ union towards uplift of Bodos, on his 60th birth anniversary at Tulunggapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.

Bodofa Brahma,was a Master Degree with Science from a poor family, born at remote Boragari village in Kokrajhar district on March 31,1956, hold the responsibility of dedictaion to the Bodo and other down trodden communities through launching of democratic mass agitation demanding separate Bodoland state carving existing Assam, bringing total revolution in the society,besides creating peace and unity among all sections of community in the region.

 UN Brahma,who had been dream of creation of separate Bodoland state, mission of  Bodo master-race and upliftment of Bodo and other down trodden communities in the country. Bodofa Brahma have had president of the ABSU in 1986 and led democratic mass movement seeking separate Bodoland state till his death in 1990. Brahma, had dream of master race of Bodos and literate Bodo community in the world through which he had dedicated his whole life towards social uplifting. 

Student union activists, irrespective of citizens from different community organistaions,leaders thronged the anniversary observation to paid floral tribute to Bodofa UN Brahma at Thulunggapuri, apart from Promod Boro,ABSU president, Sameswar Brahma, elder brother of Bodofa UN Brahma,former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma,ex-Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary.

 Promod Boro,ABSU president hoisted the union flag followed one minute silence condolence to mark the observation and an open discussion was also organised on the day.

 Promod Boro,ABSU president said, ‘The ABSU and UNBT have been observing the birth anniversary of Bodofa UN Brahma every year on today’s day. We recalled him with great respect,who had worked not only for the Bodos but for the down trodden people of the region’.

‘Bodofa Brahma led strong mass movement for separate Bodoland state within Indian constitution,who had dreamt of Master Race of Bodos in the world,besides bringing total revolution of change among society’,he said.

The students union has been stepping to bring mission with master race, mission non-violence,mission total revolution,mission Bodoland, mission quality education.

 On the building of great Bodo society Boro said,‘We want Bodos to be advance society in the world’. He has urged the government to create early small states across the country including Bodoland separate to meet good and healthy administration.The students union also declared birth place of Brahma as model village,which launching master-plan of the model village on May 1 next.”

Former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma said, ‘Bodofa UN Brahma, who had established the Bodo, a great community the world. Dedication of Bodofa Brahma was rare for the community.We must respect ideology and philosophy of Brahma’.

Bodofa Brahma had dream master race of Bodos,besides demanded separate Bodoland state. He was a leader of Bodos and other down trodden communities for the caused of Bodoland,Brahma said adding that we must try to keep alive the thoughts and philosophy of UN Brahma to the nation as well as to the world.

‘The thoughts and philosophy of the then student leader Upendra Nath Brahma has brought a revolution among the down trodden people for their rights to live with dignity and self determination. Bodofa Brahma regarded as torch bearer of the Bodo peoples towards seeking separate Bodoland state and social change’,Brahma said.

 BTC MCLA Jyotirindra Brahma,former BTC executive member Mono Kumar Brahma,UPP candidate for Kokrajhar east Pratibha Brahma,leaders from different organisation were present on the occasion.

Wild elephant kills woman in Kokrajhar

An woman was killed by wild elephant at Doulguri Lungsung area under Bishmuri police outpost in Kokrajhar late last night. The victim was identified as Pili Kisku(19) wife of Bishnu Hasda of Doulguri Lungsung along Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district. Bishnu told that an wild elephant reached their house by around 11 pm late last night and trampled to death his wife on the spot.Wild elephant some time visits at their village and attacked the villagers,he said.  Body of Pili was brought to Kokrajhar Police Station this afternoon for PM.  A villager also said that wild elephant comes in the village and disturbing the citizens from nearby forest area.

2 poachers arrested

Two poachers were apprehended by police and army at Turibari village near Manash National Park in Baksa district on Saturday. They were identified as Arjun Boro and Gangar Basumatary. Two country made gun were recovered from them.

Woman missing

One Debi Maya Chetry(35 Yrs), wife of Dan Bahadur Chetry, went missing since April 27 last while going for market at Patgaon.She hails from Athiabari Chetry Basti under Patgaon police outpost in Kokrajhar district. Drivers stage protest against assaults

Drivers of all vehicles gathered at JD Road near Assam oil, Kokrajhar to protest against physical assaults on a bus driver by a traffic police officer in Kokrajhar town on Wednesday which disrupted traffic control till afternoon. The assaulted driver was rushed to RNB civil hospital in Kokrajhar. A mini bus driver identified Pulen Roy  was hospitalised today morning due to physically assaults at Kokrajhar town by a traffic police officer on Tuesday. Roy, who hailed from Charaikola area was unnecessarily assaulted by a traffic police officer Utpal Brahma yesterday while parking his mini bus nearby road at RNB Road in Kokrajhar town. 3 KLO link men arrested

Security forces apprehended three over ground workers (OGW) of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) from two different villages on Wednesday morning during search operation in Kokrajhar district. Based on an input about presence of the link men of the KLO, a joint team of police and Rajput regiment carried out search operation and apprehended three link men from different villages under Serfanguri and Kokrajhar PS in Kokrajhar district. They were identified as Amit Roy and Nitai Roy of Bijulibari under Kokrajhar PS and Hitesh Roy of Nepalpara under Serfanguri PS. A country made riffle, two hand made pistol and 8 round live ammunition recovered from them.

Daimari lauds science college

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary has lauded the Science College, Kokrajhar, which has raked 186th of top 200 educational institutions across the country. Daimary demanded direct funding pattern to BTAD administration to meet healthy development in the region. Poachers surrender

Three poachers have surrendered before Shimla PS in Baksa district on Wednesdaymwho were allegedly involved with poaching in Manash National Park.They were identified as Binay Narzary,Charlesh Narzary and Khanin Mushahary. They deposited a country made riffle to the police.

BTAD to compensate strom victims

The ruling Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) party has decided to extend compensation to the storm affected areas in four districts of the BTAD in which natural calamities caused several properties in recent rain and storms in the region. 5 poachers held

Security forces apprehended five poachers from Bongaon area under Bhuyanpara forest range in Manas National Park of Baksa district on Monday. The poachers were apprehended along with three country made guns during search operation carried out by army and police in the area.  They were identified as Kamaleswar Basumatary, Peter Islary, Nileswar Islary, Goliath Basumatary and Jeorge Hazoary.  The poachers were involved various anti social activities in the national park, said a senior forest official.   

Homage to UN Brahma

 Former Rajya Sabha MP and former president of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) Urkhao Gwra Brahma alleged that the Thulunggapuri,burial place of late Upendra Nath Brahma,former president of ABSU has yet to meet healthy development welfare even though passed 27 years of death of Bodofa UN Brahma at Dotma in Kokrajhar. The ABSU and Upendra Nath Brahma Trust(UNBT) on Monday observed the 27th death anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, a former president of the union who led the Bodo movement across the state.
