Six arrested with arms

At-least six persons, apart from an ex-BLT member and Youth BPF leader and three militant cadres from Adavasi Dragon Fighters (ADF) and United Gorkha Peoples Organization (UGPO) were arrested by security forces in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Baksa districts on Thursday.

Security forces from the Army and Baksa police arrested three persons including an ex-BLT (Bodo Liberation Tigers) member and Youth BPF leader Bhubeneswar Boro alias Fighter and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions from No 1 Chilakuti village under Barbari police station in Lower Assam’s Baksa district late last night. The recovery includes 2 nos of AK-47 rifles, 80 rounds live ammunition of AK-47, 4 magazine of AK-47, one M-20 pistol with 7 live round and 6 mobile sets.

Mujibur Rahman, Baksa Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the ammunitions were kept hidden buried on the backside of the house of Bhubeneswar Boro alias Fighter. The SP said based on inputs, a joint team of Baksa police and army carried out a search operation late last night and recovered the arms and ammunition.

The other two arrested persons are identified as Sanjib Basumatary and Swrang Boro were arrested from Dongpar area.  More investigation is on.  In separate search operation I the district, Ram Kumar Magar, a cadre of the United Gorkha Peoples Organization (UGPO) was also arrested. A pistol and two round bullets was recovered from him.

In Kokrajhar district of Lower Assam, two cadres ADF were apprehended in a joint operation of police and army from Mandaria under Kachuagoan PS on Thursday. They were identified as Budu Tudu and Mirjan Kisku. A riffle, pistol and five live ammunition were recovered from them.

Businessman attacked

A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. Vehicular thief arrested

Salakati police in Kokrajhar district arrested a vehicular thief late last night at Salakati rail track.  He was identified as Naba Das of Belsar in Nalbari district, who was involved with stealing of a four wheeler Mahindra pick up van bearing registration AS-16C-2207. An FIR was registered no.138/16 with Salakati police outpost in this connection, under section (u/s) 457/380/411 IPC. 

KLO ultra held

In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. Mock drill in Kokrajhar

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. A live fire fighting exercise was carried out alongside the drill by Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
