Irate mob damages vehicle at Tangla

An irate mob damaged a small car (AS01 BS 5445) at Tangla Tiniali on February Saturday midnight. As per eyewitness Rajib Chetri and Dipen Chetri indulged in a brawl with a group of people. After that the duo hit a  group of people with their speeding car at TB Road, Tangla and injured Basanta Boro, Subimal Saha, Kajol Saha and Pintu Saha - out of which Pintu Saha is in critical state and has been referred to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital. Both the groups were allegedly under the influence of alcohol. 

Meanwhile police immediately rushed the spot and took stock of the situation ad an FIR  has been lodged at Tangla Police Station and booked Dipen Chetri and the driver Rajib Chetri under section 279, 338 and 307 IPC and forwarded them to judicial custody.

As part of Swach Bharat Abhiyan, sanitation wing of Tangla Town Commitee today organised cleanliness drive in the town. Several areas of the town have been cleaned of garbage, horticulture waste and debris. The cleanliness drive was joined by local people suppoted by members of Akhil Hindi Bhashi Bikas Parishad, students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Hindi Medium school along with the sanitary workers of the town committee. The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society.
