National handloom expo begins
A 20 day programme scheduled of the national handloom expo 2015-16, Kokrajhar has been kicked off here at Sudempuri in Kokrajhar.
The national event was organized by Bodoland Regional Artisans and Weavers Federation Limited (BRAWFED) in association with development commissioner for Handloom, govt of India, ministry of Textiles where stalls from various states across the country including Assam are participating.
Former Assam minister and MLA Kokrajhar east Pramila Rani Brahma lighted the lamp to inaugurate the national event in the presence of weavers and artisans from various parts of the region.
Brahma, in her speech lauded the initiative taken from Brawfed to highlight the handloom products through which weavers can earn their livelihood.
Noted Assam Cine Artist Chetana Das graced as guest, Binode Narzary, chairman of Brawfed, NN Rana Patgiri, managing director among others were prominent attendees on the occasion.
