A pall of gloom grips Assamese community in New Delhi following the sudden death of an officer posted at the Assam Bhawan in the capital city on Friday. He was none other than Dipankar Biswas who suddenly died at cardiac arrest in the wee hours. Many people from the north eastern state have deeply condoled his death and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Clause VI panel feels let down, report sent to department

New Delhi: In a major setback for the BJP-led coalition government in the state,  the Centre is unlikely to endorse the recommendations of the panel set up to suggest the implementation of the Clause VI of the Assam Accord,  1985. This has forced the committee to hand over the report in the Assam Accord implementation department on Wednesday. Citizenship Bill report on Monday

The joint parliamentary committee set up to study the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 will table its report to Parliament on Monday. Centre reassures Constitutional safeguard for indigenous lots

The Centre will soon set up a high level committee to implement the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord to ensure constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people which many parties and organizations except BJP have called a mere poll gimmick.
