Senior most Gauhati High Court judge Justice Tinlianthang Vaiphei will take overas the Chief Justice on October 21. Assam GovernorPBAcharya will administer Vaiphei the oath of office and secrecy at a function in the Raj Bhawan on that day.
President Pranab Mukherjee appointed him to replace acting Chief Justice Kazarian Srecdhar Rao who is retiring on that day.

Guwahati: Amid an unprecedented security arrangement, brisk polling is going on in 47 assembly constituencies where both BJP and Congress have high hopes on Saturday.
Polling began on a brisk note at 7 in the morning where the voters lined up to exercise their franchise.
