NGOs in Sivasagar district have come down heavily on ONC’s Assam Asset for improper utilization of the Corporate social responsibility fund. A section of local NGOs moved the higher authority with this complaint seeking their intervention. They blamed a circle senior ONGC officers alleging that they have a slew of hidden interest. They have been favouring a section of unknown organisations and NGOs.

Congress leader and Nazira MLA Debobrata Saikia has demanded a special assembly session to discuss the vexed Nagalim issue. Veteran Congress leader in Nazira Tonkeshwar Saikia breath his last at his own residence of Nazira Simaluguri on Thursday. He was 81 and survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. Saikia, the elder brother of former Assam chief minister Hiteswar Saikia died of prolonged illness. Many political leaders, organizations and individuals have deeply condoled his death.
