Incentive to brilliant students in BTC

Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were  felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .

BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today. 

Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both  of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.

Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was   working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies. 

Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

Normal life was affected following 24 hours Assam bandh called by Biswajit Ray faction of AKRSU   demanding ST status to the Koch Rajbingshi community and separate Kamatapur state today in Kokrajhar. All kinds of road transport communication,business institutions like bazaar, market, shop, bank remained closed, besides the road of the town also looked deserted on the day. Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) activists today attacked a toll gate at Dahalapara along the 31 c national highway under Bijni subdivision of Chirang district.According to sources said around a hundred KMSS activists and locals attacked and damaged the toll gate which is run by a Mumbai based Indradeep Construction Company, seven persons said to be money collectors at the toll gate were injured in the attack, besides 25 computers, 35 CCTV were damaged in the attacked.Conflict was going on in a toll gate on National Highway in the state since it was installed in many parts with angry public demanding lifting of the toll gate. One person identified as  Bhenda Sutradhar, 46 of Bangaldoba Sutradharbasti  in Kokrajhar died when lightning struck him this evening around 4.30 pm. Two cattles in the area also died in the lightning, sources said.Thunder storms with heavy rains lashes many parts of Kokrakhar since today damaging houses and uprooting today.The tin roof of Haloadol ME School in Kokrajhar was blown half a kilometer away in the storm damaging mid-day meal food stored in the school building and study materials. A massive fire gutted a bakery at Subaijhar Road under Bijni police station in Chirang district in the wee hours late last night. According to Aup Dey, owner of the Sriguru Bakery told that fire occurred due to short circuit of the power and three huts in the complex were totally set ablaze and lakhs of properties were ruined.Later, the fire was controlled by fire tenders.
