Fire gutted in Bijni

A massive fire gutted a bakery at Subaijhar Road under Bijni police station in Chirang district in the wee hours late last night. According to Aup Dey, owner of the Sriguru Bakery told that fire occurred due to short circuit of the power and three huts in the complex were totally set ablaze and lakhs of properties were ruined.Later, the fire was controlled by fire tenders.

Int'l Theatre Festival held in Kokrajhar

The Mwihur International Theatre Festival has ended in Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The seven-day festival took place at the Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari. Thirteen plays were performed by renowned artists from around the world, in various languages including Bodo, Assamese, Nepali, Hindi, Sinhala, and Malayalam. The United People’s Party(UPP) candidate  for Kokrajhar east Pratibha Brahma filed nomination papers to the Returing Officer at DC office in Kokrajhar on Monday. NDFB-S ultra held

Security forces apprehend a NDFB(S) cadre from Basabil area under Gossaigaon PS on Sunday in Kokrajhar district. Based on information about the presence of the militant outfit cadres in the area, a joint team of police and army launched an operation where a listed cadre of Gossaigaon platoon of the NDFB(S) was arrested along with arms. He was identified as Sanjay Narzary of Borsabil village. A pistol, two round ammunition was recovered from him.

BPF leaves three more seats to BJP

The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has left three constituencies- Sorbhog, Rangia and Bhawanipur to the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), its ally party.
