Truck crushed by speeding train

A truck driver had a narrow escape when a speeding train rammed into the vehicle he was driving in Golaghat district of Assam on Monday. The incident took place at Khakandguri where the Kamakhya Express rammed into the mini truck bearing no. NL-01/A-5991 as it was crossing the unmanned level crossing. The mini truck was left mangled badly in the incident.

Six school children sustained injury when a car rammed into the van carrying them in Golaghat on Thursday. The accident took place in the morning at Arengapara. The school van bearing No AS-25/B-1449 was hit by an Indica car bearing no. AS-03/H- 2843 from the back side leaving the school children injured. The driver of the Indica car fled from the spot. Assam PWD minister Ajanta Neog unveiled the deep tube scheme at Jamuguri area of Golaghat district on Wednesday. The scheme was launched under the implementation scheme of irrigation department. A huge Muslim organization in Golaghat district on Tuesday slammed Ramen Deka a day after the BJP MLA criticized the Muslim intellectuals for not raising voice of protest against the recovery of beef at the premises of a temple in Silchar.   In a statement, the organization accused the Mongoldoi MP of trying to strike communal clash in the state.  The organisation further warned the BJP leader not try to destroy the age old communal harmony.

The Hindu Jagaran Mancha in Golaghat on Monday demanded an immediate ban on cow slaughtering and illegal transportation. In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday, HJM said that the cow is considered a holy animal and the animal is closely associated in the Indian culture and tradition. Even cow is worshipped in Assam which is why, an immediate ban on cow slaughtering is required.

The Golaghat police got remand of Aditya Bora for ten days after the Maoist leaders produced before a local court on Saturday. The health and family welfare department and National Health Mission in Golaghat jointly launched the mission Tejaswi has started in the district on Saturday.The scheme to remove anaemia was launched by joint director for health and family welfare, Dr AK Borthakur where on Saturdays and Wednesdays in October, the children and pregnant women would get iron syrups and tablets. He said special measures would be taken to cover the remote and backward areas of the district.
