United Peoples Front (UPF) claimed on Monday that it would play a prominent role in the formation of the next government in Dispur. Talking to reporters after addressing a rally in Chirang, the working head of the newly floated party said UPF will contest in 35 seats.

“I believe that our party will be showing good performance in the autonomous council areas. UPF is a common platform of the councils in the state,” said Dr Rongpi. He said he was confident UPF will win in all contested seats and play a key role in the formation of govt.

Motor vehicle association warns for non-cooperation in election

The owner and members of the Motor Vehicles in Kokrajhar has warned to take non-cooperation during ensuing Assam assembly election in protest against non-payment of 32 crores of hire charge bills and previous bills of vehicles, which are pending for a long time in the district. The Election Observer for Expenditure for 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Jaginder Singh, IRS on Tuesday arrived at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar.
