Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4

A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district. 

Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country. 

Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state

Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

An IED weighing of around 4 kgs was recovered from Jadumani village under Fakiragram police station late last night, a day ahead of parliamentary election result counting tomorrow in Kokrajhar. Police said that getting tiptop information about the IED police raided the area and recovered the IED last night wee hour from a house. Police arrested two persons identified as Kripa Roy and Jayanta Roy for involving keeping with IED which was kept by KLO militants. Assam Police and CRPF jawans apprehended a person and recovered huge arms and ammunitions on Sunday evening at Chapaguri in Chirang district. Security forces intercepted a Maruti WagonR with one M16 Rifle, silencer, one .303 rifle and 140 round ammunitions. Police arrested three persons in connection with the killing of AIUDF leader Suleman Ali Mandal in Gossaigaon on Thursday.Familiy members said that Suleman was murdered late last by three youth of the same village at around 11.30 pm when they called for night duty in the village.
