Senior citizens hold convention
Hundreds of senior citizens in Kokrajhar discussed the various issued confronting them when they held a meeting at the Basic Training Centre Auditorium on Saturday.
Presided over by Gauri Sangkhar Brahma, the senior citizens shortlisted the issues of besetting them for decades.
Kokrajhar DC Madhav Prasad Sarma who attended the convention as chief guest said that the district administration has been stepping up efforts to provide facilities for the senior citizens.
These include travelling by bus and trains. He said that the senior citizens would be given proper respect and honoured among society and district administration will pay kind attention to the needs of the senior citizens.
In his speech, Mangalsingh Hazowary said governor PB Acharya asked them to discuss the social integration in the entire areas.
Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Dr Kameswar Brahma was also present in the convention where a new committee was formed in the session with Mangalsingh Hazowary as president and Dinesh Uppadhya as secretary along with 21 executive members.
