Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Three more people of a family were killed in the name of witch hunt. The incident took place at Rangalibasti area five days ago. The bodies of the Karbi family were recovered on Tuesday night four days after they went missing. The incident came to light after one of the family members found them traceless. He approached police alleging that on several earlier occassions a section of the villagers inflicted inhuman torture suspecting witch craft. Police arrested three persons in this connection and acting on their confessional statement police dug up the bodies from a jungle.
Despite stepped up security measures, Golaghat town has turned into a den of criminals. In a sensational incident, a gang of dacoits looted the Digambor Jain temple after killing the securityman on Tuesday. The incident took place on Wednesday wee hours when the dacoits attacked Parasuram Goala as he was trying to them from entering into the temple at Chandan Nagar. Two dreaded NDFB-S militants are believed to have been killed at a fierce gunbattle in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.           The encounter took place in the evening during a joint offensive against the militants---mongering trouble in BTAD areas in the form of killing, extortion and kidnapping.
Revenue minister Prithvi Majhi had a narrow escape when a powerful explosion blew off a vital bridge five minutes after he crossed it in Cachar on Tuesday.           It took place at 7.30 in the evening on the National Highway No 54 in Lakhipur.        Majhi and Dinesh Prasad Goala were way back to Silchar after attending a public meeting. The bomb was planted under the bridge which exploded with a huge sound and the bridge blew off.          There is no report of any casualty.But surface communication remained heavily disrupted.         No outfit has so far claimed the responsibility.
In a major breakthrough into the Rajib Pathak killing case, security forces claimed to have captured the main culprit behind the broad day light killing of the irrigation department engineer in Haflong. Haflong police and Army's Madras Regiment jawans held Imranjit Bathari alias Aeroplane Dimasa during a joint operation at SS Road in Mahur on Tuesday evening. Bathari was the armedman who shot dead Pathak at his office chamber a few days after Pathak joined as executive engineer of the irrigation department.
Ten people including 5 children sustained when NDFB(S) exploded a powerful grenade in Bongaigaon on Monday.           The explosion took place place in front of a Showroom at around 6.30 in the evening.  According to eyewitnesses, two motorcycle born youths lobbed the grenade which exploded with a huge sound.   Atleast 10 people sustained injury five of them are battling for life in the hospitals.           No outfit has owned up the responsibility but the needle of suspecion points towards NSCN-S.            Combing operation is in progress.

Security forces have stepped up counter offensives against the militants fomenting trouble in the BTAD areas.      A hardcore NDFB militant have been killed at an encounter in Kokrajhar on Sunday.            Identified as Lalit Brahma, the militant was killed in the encounter at Bongsijhora area in the area.                On the other hand,security forces have held a MULTA militanta during the joint operation in Chitila in Kokrajhara on Sunday night.
Police have arrested a Naga militant in connection with the recent killing of the irrigation engineer.           Identified as Ibung Kuame, the NSCN militant was held from a tiny hamlet on Sunday evening.           According to police, Kuame was one of the five militants who shot dead executive engineer Rajib Pathak at his chamber in Haflong.         He was arrested during a joint operation in the area. Security forces further seized 400 gm RDX along with a magzine, 200 bullets of AK series rifles, some detonator from his possession.
