Preparations are going on in full swing to organise first time ever in BTC region which would be beginning from September 27 involving four districts of the council. 

Speaking the reporters today at a  joint press meet held at BTC Secretariat conference hall SM Ismail, Brigadier of the Army and BTC executive member for sports & youth welfare department Doneswar Goyary said that the football premier league 2015 will begin on September 27 at two fields in Kokrajhar and Udalguri district involving respective district sports official and association.

Ismail said thst the football premier league has been organising to tap the unexplored potential of the youth in BTAD as also to promote unity and spread goodwill among the peoples. 

'The event is intended to showcase sporting talent in the region and inspire youth to pursue sports. Scouts from various league clubs are expected to attend the event to identify the budding talent and guide players on the way ahead.The event will provide a platform for people from all sections of society to come together for a common passion, thereby enhancing the spirit of unity while promoting peaceful in the region', Ismail added.  

Goyary said that BTC administration and Army have for the first time joined hands to provide a common platform for unleashing the passion of youth in the four districts in the council to demonstrate their talent in the most popular football sport in the area.He said thathere are ten clubs one each from ten subdivisions of the four districts are participating in the league and final match would be played on October 18 at SAI ground  in Kokrajhar. 

The winning team would be awarded a trophy and cadh two lakh and runner up be given away a trophy and cash one lakh in the final match.

Organizing such tournament is good for society. But it is very unfortunate to organized this tournament untill and unless a pregnant woman who was gang raped by two Indian Army personals get justice and culprits are punish. Its very confusing . . . .

Body recovered

A body of a young girl identified as Nazmin Nara Begum alias Bulbuli (18), HS passed student in recent declared results was recovered from Joypur village on hanged under Kokrajhar police station this morning. Family members said she was sleeping at her room late last and was missing from chilly night around 1am and searched whole night,but not tracedout.Villagers of the Joypur saw the body this morning and informed the police.The body was bored of injury marks on her back and neck.Her body has been brought to Kokrajhar police station for postmortem,said a police officer. World environment day observed

The World environment day was observed with planting of suppling and holding various programmes in Kokrajhar on Thursday. The 16 Bn SSB celebrated the day with planting of suppling at their headquarter complex based at Adabari  and neighbouring villages in the presence of  official and publics and distributed supplings among public. In connection with the day celebration, a friendly football match was played between the 16 Bn SSB and Kokrajhar Press Club at the premises of 16 Bn SSB camp, Adabari in Kokrajhar. Body found

A bullet ridden body of  NDFB(Ranjan Daimary) cadre identified as Ripunjay Narzary(18) of Dhumbazar village was recovered from Alaijhar under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district this morning. Police said the local informed the police about a body lying in the area. The body with hand tied in the back bore injury mark in the chest.   Police suspects the hand of its splinter group Songbijit faction behind the killing.  

Peace meeting

An all party peace meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner conference hall in Korajhar today to discuss on the prevailing law and order situation and other issues pertaining to the district. It was chaired by the Kokrajhar DC Nitin Khade, representatives from various organizations like ABSU, AAMSU, ABMSU, AKRSU, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Santali Sahitya Sabha, All Bodo Women Welfare Federation(ABWWF), BPF, senior citizens and members from various NGOs participated and discussed on various issues pertaining to the district. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilaty ceremonialy distributed 165 appointment letters to the professor and non teaching staffs of seven colleges of BTC administration at a function held at BTC Legislative Assembly conference hall today in Kokrajhar. ABSU felicitates toppers

The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), Kokrajhar district unit felicitated the toppers and first division holder students in Bodo medium in recent declared HSLC examination at a function held at Bodofa House on Tuesday in Kokrajhar. Altogether, 125 students including 10 toppers succesfully come out  in first division in Kokrajhar district. NDFB cadre beaten to death

A suspected NDFB cadre (Ranjan Daimary faction) was beaten to death by public mob today at Bagargaon under Bijni police station in Chirang when he was coming to take extortion demand money. Acording to source,NDFB cadre come with a Pulsar bike to take extortion demand money from a Kalamuddin Sheik at Bagargaon village this afternoon around 1.30 pm while villagers gheraoed him and beaten to death.The mob has also set blazed the bike. Sources claimed that the cadre was identified himself as Pranjit Boro while demanded Rs. 5 lakh from a person in a mobile call.  

Results suggest bright future in BTAD

The percentage of HSLC and HS successful candidates in BTAD districts seems to have suggested a brighter future. In Kokrajhar district, over all pass percentage in Arts stream is 65 %, Science 82 % and commerce 49.6% percent respectively. A total of 7,116 have appeared out of which 4,660 students came out successful in arts stream. In science stream 446 passed out of 542 appeared students and 125 out of 252 appeared students passed in Commerce streams.
