Daoharu Mungklong Trophy to begin from Oct 4

Preparations are going on in full swing for the 18th Daoharu Mungklong Trophy-2015 in Kokrajhar. 

Organised by Dotma Anchalik Sports Association, the event will take place at DASA ground from October 4.

Altogether 13 teams from various states like Assam, West Bengal are participating in the football trophy which included NF Railway, Guwahati; Green Valley, Guwahati; ASEB, Guwahati, Coochbehar, West Bengal, Kolkata FC, West Bengal; Barhoongka AC, Kokrajhar; Global Academy, Gossaigaon; Bardwi Shikla, Kachugaon; Udalguri FC, Dotma Xi, Salbagan FC, Gossaigaon; Chirang DSA and Baksa DSA.

The trophy will start from October 4 next with a colourful opening programme scheduled.

A committee has been set up to conduct the trophy in a smooth manner with Pradip Kumar Brahma, Kokrajhar west MLA as president, Sankarlal Brahma working president and Bakul Chandra Brahma as convener. 

BTC executive member for sports & youth welfare department Doneswar Goyary will grace as chief guest on the opening function. 

The championship team would be awarded a trophy and cash 50,000 while runners up team will be given away a trophy and cash 25, 000 in the final match.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. A live fire fighting exercise was carried out alongside the drill by Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
