Tuki makes aerial survey

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki was on a stock taking visit to the flood affected areas in Doimukh, Kimin, Mebo, Diyun, Dambuk, Namsai. Then he again toured Tezu, Bodrumsa and worst affected Anpum village under Paglam circle of Lower Dibang Valley and Chiputa village near Likabali.

Tuki was accompanied by ministers Chowna Mein, Kamlung Mossang, parliamentary secretary Jomde Kena MLAs Gum Tayeng (Dambuk), Zingnu Namchoom (Namsai) & Nikh Kamin (Bordumsa-Diyun), Disaster Management secretary Khapa Kholie & director Y W Ringu, Arunachal Pradesh State Transport GM Abu Tayeng.

However, minister Tapang Taloh, MLAs Lombo Tayeng (Mebo) & Olom Panyang (Mariyang -Geku) joined the team when the Skyone helicopter landed at Pasighat for refuelling. The local MLAs apprised Tuki of the extent flood damages in their areas.

Reacting on the Supreme Court verdict to grant citizenship to Chakma-Hajong refugees the students union of effected district Namsai, comprising of All Tai Khamti Singpho Students Union (ATKSSU, All Namsai District Students Union (ANDSU), All Namsai Area Youth Association (ANAYA) and other organizations staged mass protest rally at Namsai on Monday.‘We the indigenous people will ultimately become victims, so we never accept the verdict of Supreme Court. A team of veterinary doctors led by Dr Jikom Panor visited flood ravaged Gadum and Mer villages under Mebo to ascertain the cause of reported outbreak of diseases in cattle.The team conducted animal health camp at both the villages where many affected animals were treated and medicine were distributed. The team surveying the grazing area, found plenty of toxic plants, known as Lantena camera.According to official sources, in acute cases, rate of mortality is very high. Preliminary spot examination on death of animals are found to be Lantana poisoning. Samples were collected and are being sent to laboratory for confirmatory diagnosis, informed the DVO.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced fine from Rs 2000 to Rs 4000 against who drunken driving in the state. The inability to pay the fine would invite six month imprisonment. This was more or less of what home minister Tanga Byaling said when he was opening the ‘Traffic Awareness System’ in Itanagar on Saturday.He said at least 10- 20 young people lost their lives in the road accident every year.
