Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.

The illegal migrants of Bangladesh irrespective of religion should be sent back to their country. There is no place for Hindu Bangladeshi or Muslim Bangladeshi in Assam.

Gopal Chandra Basumatary is no more. The president of All BTAD Gaonburah Association breathed his last at his resident Kashibari in Kokrajhar on Saturday. He was 68. He is survived by his wife, son and daughters. The BTAD administration observed half holiday in four districts following death of Gopal Chandra Basumatary. At least three persons sustained serious injuries when a Bolero and Tata Sumo collided head on at Balajan Tiniali near CIT campus in Kokrajhar Friday. An unregistered Bolero used by army jawans located at Patarghat came face to face with a Tata Sumo bearing registration number AS 16 9849 when it was on its way to deliver Sal logs to the CIT Kokrajhar campus along with two labourers. Family members of arrested television journalist Jaiklong Brahma alleged that police has not yet made medical care available to him. His wife Citra Brahma claimed that her husband suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. "He is bereft of medical attention. More so, he is held up in an unhygienic lockup," she said. She demanded medical facility for Brahma and that he be kept in a suitable room. Citra Friday filed a petition seeking immediate medical facility and health care. The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and the All Assam Students Union (AASU) slammed the state government for arresting journalist Jaiklong Brahma and said that the government has failed to take stern actions against the armed outfits and arrested Brahma to divert their failure. Jaiklong Brahma, a senior journalist in Kokrajhar, was arrested by police on Tuesday night in Kokrajhar for links with NDFB (Songbijit faction).
