Two crucial meetings of Congress topguns are believed to have finalized strategy to stop exodus of sitting MPs to BJP.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi convened the late night meeting at his residence at his official residence in Koinadhara where AICC leaders Dr CP Joshi and Abinash Pandey were present.
Earlier, the AICC leaders met the sitting party MLAs at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoka and asked them to toe on the party line.
The MLAs, who attended the meeting said that they won’t join BJP. After coming out of the meeting former minister Siddique Ahmed said that no MLA would join BJP anew.
Dr Joshi and Pandey are scheduled to meet all senior APCC leaders on Sunday. The crisis took a grave turn when nine sitting MLAs met BJP president Amit Shah and evinced keen interest to join BJP. They further assured the BJP top leaders that they would join the party within a day or two.
