BPPF prepared for assembly polls

The Bodoland Peoples Progressive Front (BPPF) party has eyed Assembly elections next year and termed that newly floated United Peoples Party (UPP) has no much factor among society in the region which was floated August 5 last at programme at Dotma in Kokrajhar district.

Strengthening the party ahead of the next year Assembly election, the Bodoland Peoples Progressive Front (BPPF) on Saturday held a meeting at Banargaon Community hall in Kokrajhar and discussed on strengthening the party in the region in all aspects of the the society where thousands of people attended the meeting.

The party also announced forming of new Koojrajhar district committee of the party with Ananta Narzary as the president and Ainal Haque as general secretary.

Later talking to Reporters, party central president Rabiram Narzary said the party may have weaken after formation of the new party United Peoples Party (UPP), where many BPPF members have joined the new party, but the party is still strong. He said that his party is still strong and mass supporters. He said that the newly floated UPP party nothing to be factor in the ensuing Assembly elections next year. 

He said they have already started process for strengthening the party in unit, anchalik and district level and about contesting in the next Assam Assembly election and future prospects of the party.   

On asked what went wrong in the unification move ahead of the floating of the new party UPP, Narzary admitted that his party was also involved in the process of formation of the UPP and the party in its executive meeting in June 27 had resolved to support the new party and agree to dissolve the BPPF after the new party is floated but ‘things did not materialized or perceive as we wanted, wished, he said. It said earlier that with floating of the new party, both the BPPF and UDPF were dissolved unanimously as the new party was formed uniting the two regional political parties, apart from the PCDR members.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district.
