Flood situation in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Bogaigaon remains worse with more villages coming under the surging waters forcing people to take shelter in higher areas in many parts.
The Saralbhanga embankment at Bhowraguri near Jharbari breached on Wednesday following incessant rains in Kokrajhar.
The situation turned critical in many parts of Kokrajhar, with many villages in Kachugaon, Patakata, Dotma, Patgaon, Jharbari, Simbargaon and Kokrajhar town, are inundated.
Majors rivers flowing through lower Assam district from upstream Bhutan- like Gongia, Hell, Swrmanga, Saralbangha, Longa, Gaurang, Champamati, Aie, Beki are rising and flowing above danger mark in many places.
The district administrations have been monitoring the flood situation and providing relief materials to the affected areas in the district.
Villagers of greater Jharbari area said that the flood reached the villages since early morning and washed out all house and properties in the area.
