Amit Shah on visit to Guwahati

BJP president is on stock taking visit to Guwahati nine months ahead of the assembly polls.

Immediately after landing at the Borjhar airport, he along with 10 other top leaders straightly arrived at the Machkhowa ITA to address the convention of the party’s north eastern leaders.

Later in the day he would met the state leadership to take stock of the state’s pre poll political landscape.   

He is scheduled to leave the city in the evening.

Wrong News. After landing at Borjhar LGBI Airport, he went to Hotel Rituraj where he conducted a personal meeting for more than one hour and then around 12:10 proceeded to ITA Machkhowa from where he left for Delhi.

The killer dengue claimed one more life in Guwahati on Thursday. Panic grips in Bongaigaon town when NDFB militants triggered a bomb on Wednesday.There is no report of any casualty and damage to property. Dispur is prepared to operationalise 181 helpline exclusively for women in distress.Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi writes to Chief Secretary PP Verma asking him to instruct the state Home and Political Department to work out an action plan to operationalise the 181 helpline facility for women as it was in other states like Delhi.Gogoi directed that the helpline be operationalised in consultation with the Assam Police, Health and Family Welfare, Assam State Disaster Management Authority and other line departments. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the state government would continue its fight to get ST status for six communities in the state.Talking to reporters on Monday, Gogoi said that his government woud be fighting for the ST status for the six communities saying that it was a legitimate demand.He said the Centre has not rejected the proposal. Only the Registrar General Of India (RGI) has not recommended the proposal. Two Assam government officers were sentenced to seven years Rigorous Imprisonment for their involvement in the PDS rice scam.Tinsukia Chief Judicial Magistrate N S Deori sentenced former Kakopathar Block Development Officer Alizur Rehman Bora and Extension Officer Kshitij Kakati to seven years RI along with a fine of Rs 50,000 each.
