A circle of top Congress leaders is contemplating to join BJP just ten month ahead of the assembly polls. Bu the ruling party is least bothered.
Sources told Assam Times they have been in constant touch with state BJP leadership. But talks have yet to arrive at any conclusion.
Now all eyes are fixed on Tuesday when it would figure during Amit Shah’s visit to Guwahati. State president Siddharth Bhattacharya is likely to formally apprise Shah of the move.
“These include Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and his close associates who have been doing dissidence against Tarun Gogoi as chief minister for the last three years. The green signal will come from the national executive body,” sources told Assam Times.
According to highly placed sources the party would welcome them considering their poll prospects. “Otherwise, allowing them to contest the assembly polls at the cost of the existing ticket aspirants would be a suicidal step,” said a senior party leader.
But all senior leaders have been not endorsing the idea of importing Congress leaders to the party saying that it should be ensured that those who have been relentlessly working for the party should not allowed to remain dissatisfied.
