City bus accident; 10 injured

At least ten people sustained injury when a city bus rammed into an auto rickshaw along with a two wheeler in Guwahati on Thursday.
The tragic accident took place at around 11 in the morning at the busy Paltanbazar area when a Ganeshguri bound city bus rammed into a two wheeler after the driver lost his control over it.
A college student who was sitting on the stranded two wheeler received serious injury to be rushed to the GMCH where he is battling for life.
Then it again rammed into an auto rickshaw before halting beside the Vishal Mega Mart. Three people who were travelling on the ill fated auto rickshaw also sustained injury.
Seven other passenger who sustained serious injury are battling for life at the MMC and GMC Hospitals.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that he has nothing to object if the Centre grants Bodoland. Talking to reporters in Delhi on Monday Gogoi said, “I am open to it. If the Government of India decides, I have no objection." But personally, Gogoi has maintained that he wants the ethnic minorities of the state to stay together, even though he is open to discussions regarding separate statehood.

A dreaded KPLT militant was killed at an encounter with police in Karbi Anglong district on Saturday. The encounter took place during an operation in Bokajan where the militant identified as Tom died on the spot. Five other militants fled from the encounter spot. Later police recovered an AK-56 rifle along with a magazine, 72 rounds of bullets.
Two Achik National Volunteer Council militants were killed by locals residents along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Friday.According to police, a group of 7 militants had come to Darangthop under Agia police station for extortion to be attacked by an irate mob. Police claimed to have seized a pistol with one of the ultras of the proscribed outfit and raised an alarm. A US-made pistol, two rounds of live ammunition and two mobile phone hand sets were recovered from them. The deceased were identified as Nabang Changma and Wasi Changma.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that 18 autonomous councils were formed to look after respective community development activities and give more developmental thrust through various schemes.Talking to reporters in Titabor Gogoi said that what the people doing for development of backward classes in Assam no state in the country can do.
Amid demand for statehood Chief minister Tarun Gogoi said that all ethnic groups need to stay united.Talking to reporters in Titabor on Friday, Gogoi said, “We need to stay together. Although we are Rabhas, Bodos, Karbis, Chutias, Gorkhas, we all need to live together as Assamese under one umbrella in the state.”He said that that violence cannot solve problems and only through discussions and talks can things be sorted out.
Muslims in the state on Friday prayed for peace when they offered Namaz in the mosques and Eidgahs to mark the Eid Ul Fitre.Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi participated in a community prayer at Jorhat in the morning. Gogoi prayed for sustainable peace and brotherhood among the various communities in the time of simmering violence. Guwahati also witnessed special prayer at the historic Burha Jame Mosque.
The Bodo National Conference on Sunday resolved to intensify the movement for creation separate Bodoland state. The Bodo organization held an emergent executive meeting of the conference PWD Bunglow chaired Hagrama Mohilary,BNC chairman and resolved several resolutions including demanding of Bodoland in Kokrajhar. BNC Chief Convenor Kampa Borgoyary said that the meeting had a very serious discussion on the issue of present political development regarding the Telangana and creation of separate state in different areas of India including Bodoland. An AGP delegation comprising MP Joseph Toppo and former ministers Utpal Bora and Atul Bora was on a stock taking visit to Diphu on Sunday. They held a meeting with local organisations and appealed that violence be stopped and protesters press their demand in a democratic manner.
