At least ten people sustained injury when a city bus rammed into an auto rickshaw along with a two wheeler in Guwahati on Thursday. The tragic accident took place at around 11 in the morning at the busy Paltanbazar area when a Ganeshguri bound city bus rammed into a two wheeler after the driver lost his control over it. A college student who was sitting on the stranded two wheeler received serious injury to be rushed to the GMCH where he is battling for life. Then it again rammed into an auto rickshaw before halting beside the Vishal Mega Mart. Three people who were travelling on the ill fated auto rickshaw also sustained injury. Seven other passenger who sustained serious injury are battling for life at the MMC and GMC Hospitals.

The student name is Ajoy Kumar Das, he is a Guwahati city office secretary of akhil bharatiya vidyarthi parishad (ABVP). Now he is admitted in Gnrc Sixmile.
NDFB's Ranjan Daimari faction struck a ceasefire pact with the Centre on Friday which is believed to be of great help to restore peace in BTAD. Union joint home secretary Sambhu Singh represented the Centre in the tripartite in Guwahati where NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary was present. The Bodo militant agreed to deposit over 40 arms apart from a list of 379 militants who would be kept in 2 designated camps. A brain storming meet of police heads from 14 districts chalked out a slew of strategies to counter the growing militant activities in these districts. Presiding over the meeting at Assam police Headquarters on Thursday, DGP JN Chaudhury asked the SPs and IGs and DIGs to sternly deal with the fanning militant forces in the state. The minor boy critically injured in the Bongaigaon blast died in Guwahati on Wednesday. The three year old boy died three days after he was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. The minor boy was critically wounded in Bongaigaon on Sunday as he was on the way to attend the Raas festival in the evening along with his parents. Suspected NDFB-B exploded the powerful grenade in the town leaving 10 injured.
Three more people of a family were killed in the name of witch hunt. The incident took place at Rangalibasti area five days ago. The bodies of the Karbi family were recovered on Tuesday night four days after they went missing. The incident came to light after one of the family members found them traceless. He approached police alleging that on several earlier occassions a section of the villagers inflicted inhuman torture suspecting witch craft. Police arrested three persons in this connection and acting on their confessional statement police dug up the bodies from a jungle.
Despite stepped up security measures, Golaghat town has turned into a den of criminals. In a sensational incident, a gang of dacoits looted the Digambor Jain temple after killing the securityman on Tuesday. The incident took place on Wednesday wee hours when the dacoits attacked Parasuram Goala as he was trying to them from entering into the temple at Chandan Nagar. Goala died on the spot before the dacoits looted the temple. Golaghat police have detained 3 persons in this connection.
Two dreaded NDFB-S militants are believed to have been killed at a fierce gunbattle in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The encounter took place in the evening during a joint offensive against the militants---mongering trouble in BTAD areas in the form of killing, extortion and kidnapping.
Revenue minister Prithvi Majhi had a narrow escape when a powerful explosion blew off a vital bridge five minutes after he crossed it in Cachar on Tuesday. It took place at 7.30 in the evening on the National Highway No 54 in Lakhipur. Majhi and Dinesh Prasad Goala were way back to Silchar after attending a public meeting. The bomb was planted under the bridge which exploded with a huge sound and the bridge blew off. There is no report of any casualty.But surface communication remained heavily disrupted. No outfit has so far claimed the responsibility.
