City bus accident; 10 injured

At least ten people sustained injury when a city bus rammed into an auto rickshaw along with a two wheeler in Guwahati on Thursday.
The tragic accident took place at around 11 in the morning at the busy Paltanbazar area when a Ganeshguri bound city bus rammed into a two wheeler after the driver lost his control over it.
A college student who was sitting on the stranded two wheeler received serious injury to be rushed to the GMCH where he is battling for life.
Then it again rammed into an auto rickshaw before halting beside the Vishal Mega Mart. Three people who were travelling on the ill fated auto rickshaw also sustained injury.
Seven other passenger who sustained serious injury are battling for life at the MMC and GMC Hospitals.

ULFA has charged Dibrugarh police with masterminding the powerful blast that rocked the town on Tuesday leaving a schoolgirl. In a statement issued a day after the explosion at Amulapatty, the outfit made it clear that they had no role in the incident. The outfit called it a handiwork of police. Identified as Purnima Rajat, the Class X girl died on the spot as the blast took place. Five people--- left injured in the blast, were rushed to AMCH.
Security forces claimed to have recovered the bodies of two SSB constables a week after the duo were kidnapped by the suspected NEFB-S militants.          The bullet ridden bodies were spotted along the Indo-Bhutan border on Thursday.         Two more skeletons were also recovered from the same spot.
Security forces have rescued 4 tea garden workers 12 hours after suspected NSCN-K militants kidnapped them at gunpoint in Moriani.             Identified as Damu Gour,Maina Baishya, Amar Praja and Bijen Goala, they were rescued from a dense jungle during a combing operation along the Assam-Nagaland border on Wednesday night.               They were kidnapped by gunmen in the morning from a tea plantation site in Rongkham and demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for their release forcing a combing operation in the jungle.
Security forces, engaged in the counterinsurgency operation in Dima Hasao district, achieved a major success when a dreaded militant was captured on Wednesday.       Identified as David Kemprai, the 45 year old Action Dimasa leader was held during a combing operation in Mahur in the afternoon.         Kemprai was the main culprit behind the killing of Rajiv Pathak, the PHE executive engineer in Haflong who was shot dead by militant inside his chamber two months back.

Despite strict vigil, Naga miscreants continue to unleash terror in Moriani along the Assam-Nagaland interstate-border.                    Suspected NSCN-K militants kidnapped four workers from  their workplace on Wednesday morning.           The incident took place at Rankham where armed militants took away the workers at gunpoint.          Search operation is in progress.
Tension is escalating in Chirang after two school goers were shot dead by police during a counter insurgency operation.         The incident took place at Runikhata in the morning when police opened fire at a group of students on their way to the school during an operation.          Two students namely Jiri Narzary and Pranjit Narzary died on the spot while three others sustained injury who were shifted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.          Then the irate mob rushed to the Runikhata police station and set it on fire. Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed shock at the killing of Chhattisgarh based journalist Sai Reddy, who according to media report, was killed by Maoist activist on Friday last. Reddy (51), a native of Basaguda village in Naxalite-hit Bijapur district of south Chhattisgarh, used to write for Deshbandhu newspaper of the State. Media reports say that Reddy was attacked by a group of Maoists with sharp weapons in broad daylight on December 6.
