Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

 There is no trace of the two school boys even after a month has passed since they have gone missing in Uriamghat. The family members of Ajoy Gaur and Philson Kujur who were believed to have been kidnapped on their way back from the school, moved Uriamghat police station and Ralan police station in Nagaland side. But there is no trace yet. Now the family members have been mounting pressure on the police atleast to recover the bodies for the last rites.      
A judicial enquiry will unearth the truth behind the killing of school girl Priya Basumatary by NDFB(S) militants who alleged her to be a police informer. The government will officially write to the Gauhati High Court in the next few days. The world ‘immigrant’ created an uproar in the Assam Assembly forcing Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi to take prime minister’s name on Tuesday.The uproar on the floor took place during the question hour when BPF MLA Pramila Rani Brahma alleged existence of immigrants in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts. Police claim to have killed two dreaded ULFA at an encounter with the police after recovering a boy from their captivity in Goalpara district on Tuesday. The encounter took place on Monday night during an operation at Beldangpara in Krishnai area in search of an abducted boy. According to police, the militants tried to escape and started firing at them forcing the policemen to retaliate with firing where two militants were killed.  Flash flood has claimed two more lives in Dhemaji district. Local residents of Mechaki in Jonai fished out the body of Bishnuram Barman on Monday a day after the country boat ferrying him was washed away by the strong water currents of the river Brahmaputra. Another shocking death was reported from Chitalmari in Sisiborgaon circle where the four year old boy Paban Pait slipped from his house in the morning. But the body was fished out in Mechaki in the evening. With this, the toll in this flood wave has gone up to nine. Seven people others one each in Lakhimpur, Dhubri, Nalbari, Golaghat and Barpeta and two in Morigaon districts.    
  There is no let-up in the flood fury that has claimed 7 lives apart from rendered over ten lakh people in fifteen districts homeless  during this week. The Brahmaputra and its tributaries are still flowing above the danger level even after the halt in the incessant rains in Arunachal Pradesh. Congress has announced its candidates for three assembly seats where bypolls are to be held on September 13. The AICC poll panel has announced the names of Arun Dulla Majumdar in Silchar. Rajdeep Gowala has been from Lakhipur while Basiruddin Lashkar will be the candidate from Janmunamukh assembly seat.  The process of filing nominations has already started and the last date for filing of nomination papers in August 27.
