Boy rescued as ULFA men killed in encounter

Police claim to have killed two dreaded ULFA at an encounter with the police after recovering a boy from their captivity in Goalpara district on Tuesday.

The encounter took place on Monday night during an operation at Beldangpara in Krishnai area in search of an abducted boy. According to police, the militants tried to escape and started firing at them forcing the policemen to retaliate with firing where two militants were killed.

Police Commando battalion Inspector Sanin Stone Momin sustained bullet injuries on his leg. He is undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, a local resident Hiteswar Chakravorty, who had kidnapped the boy for ULFA was arrested in Goalpara town.
