Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

BJP president Amit Shah is on a stock taking visit to Guwahati on July 14 a few months ahead of the assembly polls.During his visit to the north eastern region, Shah is expected to finetune the strategies for the assembly polls early next year. He is likely to be accompanied by Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju.During his two days visit, Singh is expected to visit the Indo-Bangla border to review the progress of the border fencing works.
Yet another Assamese film fetches no less pride for the state when the entre sector is embroiled in perennial crisis.A popular Assamese film is all set to be screened in Bushan when it would be hosting the international film festival. The film is none other than Kothanodi which is being shortlisted for screening in the regional category.Directed by Bhaskar Hazarika, the film has already drawn no less applause for the roles of Adil Hussain, Kapil Bora, Zerifa Hussain et al.The invitation of the film is said to be a ray of hope at a time when the state’s film sector is languishing in an uncertain future.
Amid an escalating controversy over the fund misappropriation in Assam Cricket Association, a senior official of the state’s cricket body has lodged a complaint against its president Bikash Baruah and Pradip Burahgohain.The organization’s vice president Tapan Sarma has moved Phatashil police station against the duo accusing them of hiding a few crucial files.Notably, the allegations of a huge financial scam has forced a local court in Guwahati to stall the recent ACA annual session and election of a new body.
The Asom Sahitya Sabha demands inclusion of all indigenous people in NRC without any legacy data. The state’s largest literary body will move the Supreme Court seeking exemption of OBC, MOBC, SC along with the Brahmins and Kalita community people from legacy data for inclusion of their names in the updated NRC.The Sabha will be one of the parties in the issue when the apex court will review the progress of the entire ongoing process on July 14.
Amid an aroused controversy over the death of a Meghalaya woman under the detention of Dispur police, the authorities on Wednesday suspended two police officers besides refuting the charges of rape. Police commissioner Mukesh Agarwal told reporters that sub inspectors Pritilota Talukdar and Sanjeev Chetri have been suspended for dereliction of their duties. Citing the preliminary enquiry report, he brushed aside the allegations of rape inside the police station. According to him, she died of breathing difficulties.Notably, the woman who was detained in Dispur police station on Sunday night was found hanging inside the toilet when the duo were on their duties.    ...
Dissidence refused to get any prominence in the high voltage talks of Rahul Gandhi with Chief minister Tarun Gogoi and his political bête nore Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in New Delhi on Wednesday.Talking to Assam Times, the chief minister said he has not received any instruction from the party vice president for any conciliation or path-up with the dissident party leaders.He, however, denied any dissidence within the party barely a few months before the assembly polls.Notably, Gogoi on Tuesday said that the crucial meeting had hardly any importance saying that these sittings are held at regular intervals.     
Security forces claimed to have killed a hardcore KPLT leader in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.\According to sources, the militant was killed at an encounter inside the dense forest of Nambar in the wee hours.One AK-56 rifle and a huge cache of ammunition was recovered during the encounter.
 Despite tight security NDFB-S militants have been moving without any hindrance in Sonitpur district.Security forces on Wednesday arrested three linkmen of the Bodo militant outfit during an operation in by Tezpur.Senior police officials have been interrogating the linkmen to extract information on the movement of NDFB-S militants who have been unleashing terror at regular intervals in the district.
